Louisiana Jones Act is a revised form of Merchant Marine Act, which was introduced in the year 1920. This act covers sea men and offshore sea men. Louisiana Jones Act is quite similar to the worker’s compensation act. However the truth is that both of these acts differ widely.
Basically, Louisiana Jones Act provides remedies or solutions for the injured sea men or those people who work in inland waters. In case of any injury or death of a sea man, the beneficiaries are provided with awards, benefits and compensations. This act covers all types of inland vessels including diving vessels, barges, drill ships etc.
